About Me

I enjoy all types of sport and the conditioning that accompanies them. I possess a strong fitness background, I have played rugby since the age of 10 and I have went on to play at premiership level in both Scotland and QLD, Australia. My passion for weight training was first parked when I was given my first set of adjustable dumbells at the age of 15. I still remember thrashing out a few sets before bed most nights. The enthusiasm was there, even if the technique wasn't!  I started lifting proper weights in a gym at the age of 15, my first couple of years were entirely self taught. I am now 27 and have been lifting for consistently for 12 years.

My love for training eventually materialized into more serious strength and conditioning and at the age of 18 I started more structured training with top coaches. What began initially as a hobby and a means enhancing rugby performance soon became a way of life.

My passion for sport and exercise shaped my further education. I studied Applied Sports Science at the University of Edinburgh and graduated with a Bachelors Degree. This has given me excellent knowledge in the factors which underpin sport and exercise and an excellent understanding in many of the concepts associated with personal training.

After University, I moved to Australia to play rugby where I played in the Queensland Premiership. I also gained vital experience working in the fitness industry.

In 2009 I suffered a serious knee injury. At one point I was told I categorically I would never play again or perform any kind of leg weights. Three years down the line and I am the only documented person to ever make it back to high end contact sport after having a complete meniscus replacement.

I have been involved in elite conditioning and exercise for almost 10 years and have learned some valuable things from some top strength and conditioning coaches (Border Reivers, SRU, Queensland Reds). This has helped me to refine and continue to broaden my own skill base, allowing me to provide the best possible service to you!

My applied experience, combined with the qualifications and knowledge in the theories underpinning exercise makes me the ideal coach for you!

Anybody can do a 6 week course to become a personal trainer. It is important you pick a trainer who has the qualifications, experience and the know-how to help you transform your physique and achieve your goals. If a PT isn't in shape themselves, how are they going to get you into shape?!
